Static Website

A static website is one that has web pages stored on the server in the format that is sent to a client web browser. It is primarily coded in Hypertext Markup Language(HTML); Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) are used to control appearance beyond basic HTML. Imagea are commonly used to effect the desired appearance and as part of the main content. Audio or video might also be considered "static" content if it plays automatically or is generally non-interactive.

A static site is written in plain simple HTML. The code of the page is what is displayed to the user. Each page is a seperate file and ther is no database it is dependeant on. The only way to make any change to the page is to go the code and do the required.

A static website means the files are loaded "as is" on the web server. So if you want a very basic webite with no comments or additional functionality then you would choose this option.

The advantage of using a static website is that they are clean, load quickly and pretty secure.

CMS Website

A content management system (CMS) is a software system that provides website authoring, collabration, and administration tools designed to allow users with little knowledge of web programming languages  or markup languages to create and mange website content with relative ease. A robust Content Management System provides the foucndation or collaboration, offering users the ablilty to manage documents and output for mulitlple author editing and participation. Most systems use a content repository or a database to store page content, metadata, and other information assets that might be needed by the system.

A presentation layer (template engine) displays the content to website vistors based on a set of templates.

Most systems use server side caching to improve performance. This works best when the CMS is not changed often but visits happen regularly.

Dynamic Website

A dynamic website is on that changes or customizes itself frequently and automatically. Server-side dynamic pages are generated "on the fly" by computer code that produces the HTML and CSS. There are a wide range of sofware systems, that are available to generate dynamic web systems and dynamics sites. Various web application frameworks and web template systems are available for general-use programming languages like PHP, Python, and others, to make if faster and easier to create complex dynamic web sites.

A dynamic site is written using a server-side scripting language as PHP. Here the site of the content is dependent on the scripting language from other files or from a database. Depending on actions taken by the user or the web master, the content or the site can change.

Mobile-optimised design, menus and screen layout.

Use main site content or add mobile-only content/services.

Administration is also typically done throught browser-based interfaces, but some systems require the use of a fat client.

A CMS allows non-technical users to make changes to a website with little training. A CMS typically requires a systems administrator and /or a web developer to set up and add features, but is primarily a website maintenance tool for non-technical staff.

Dynamic Web Design vs Static

Comparing dynamic web design versus static is that you can make every page if desired. The designer has complete freedom to put in any special effects that a client asks. But the main problem with any static site is when the conen has to be updated. You cannot do this unless you are well verse with html codes and the languages used. You will have to seek the help of the web designer and developer.

A dynamic site uses a much more coplex code tha a static web design and therfor givbes the coder or user much more feedom to do more. I can easlily change in the database. Dynamic web designs can also lower the ongoing maintenance costs of the site. Another advantage of dynamic sites is that you can easily change the content of the site without intervening with the design.
